Scott started as a DC attorney.  He switched gears and later served on the National Board for the Congress of New Urbanism (CNU) for many years.

He led Gateway Planning in Dallas prior to merging with Urban Innovators, where his downtown and small area renovation plans became legendary for the scale of walkable economic development that came in shortly after his plans were implemented by the cities.
